Showered with Love

Greta and Kristen hosted a baby shower in my honor last Saturday. It was a lovely morning with great friends and good food. I didn't bring my camera, so I don't have any photos to share of the day, I think everyone had a nice time. I was very proud of my sister for delegating some of the responsibilities to others who were willing to help and it made me feel even more special since so many wanted to pitch in...it does take a village.

I was overwhelmed with the generosity of my family and friends, there were many gifts to open. I think I might own the entire Carter's layette in the whale / ocean theme. I got some amazing hand crafted items, too, and was hoping to highlight those here...I had lofty plans for individual photos of each, but in the end I have one big picture of most things handmade and I wanted to highlight my friends who created them.

My sister Maja created the octopus onesie with matching blankets and beach ball. She also made some amazing booties and an embroidered anchor wall hanging, as well as some decorations for the shower. That Maja, she has talent...her ability to put fabrics together and create unique and stylish pieces never ceases to amaze me...read about her work on her blog sew nice.

The adorable tie onesie and baby scrapbook were created by Jill. Jill one of the girls from Maja's group of friends, but in Maja's absence has adopted my sister and I. We are in the bunco group with these girls and share time together chatting about children, husbands, and life. Her handcrafted gifts were amazing, and the scrapbook is perfect for me...poor Lillian never sees any baby pictures because I am still trying to scrap for her...she's 3 1/2 and I have only done pages up to May 2006 (the year she was born)...one day I will finish! Anyway, Thanks Jill...Asian Barbie, you've got talent!

Mikayla knitted me the cute blue hat and made two onesies with that super cute motor scooter stitched onto them. I always knew that Mikayla had great knitting skills, but her sewing skills were a surprise...I guess they really shouldn't be since her mom is a sewer...but I don't know when Mikayla has the time to create such cool things...I can barely get my butt in front of my machine...great work Mikayla!

The beautiful hooter hider, nursing cover, was made by Leilani. She is also promising me some fun burp clothes as well...I can't wait. Plus I am super excited about the hooter hider, titty tent, or whatever you want to call it because I was planning on just using Greta's which was a bit girlie...Thanks Lani!

The embroidered whale side snap shirt, Thomas Malcolm blanket, and polka dot pants were all whipped up by my momma...Grandma Joanie. I did give her a hard time because she was trying to work ahead and put the baby's sun sign on the blanket already, which if he is born on his due date will be Leo (this is also my mom and Maja's sign)...but what if he comes early...not that that will ever happen for me, but still, where's the hope...

I know it's hard to see here but look closely, hanging over the hooter hider is the amazing necklace Sandy made for me. It is a silver donut circle hand stamped with Lillian and Thomas' names and a beautiful pearl hanging in the middle. Sandy never creases to amaze me and she loves to craft...she tries her hand at everything, always creating clever pieces and inspiring others. She also works, takes care of her son, and runs a spot in Leaping Lotus with her crafty husband Tony. Let's not forget to mention her amazing coffee cake she made for the shower...so yummy! Read all about Sandy's adventures on her blog The house of jacks.

I do want to also mention Laura Bennett's amazing fruit plate that she prepared for the party...it was so beautiful with fruit kabobs, sliced kiwi and strawberry and then fresh mint laid all around...very nice work. She also has a blog, and her entries are amazing and heartfelt. Visit her here on Sweet Mama.

Hopefully, I did not leave anyone out or hurt anyone's feeling. I love shoppers, too, and as I said, we truly appreciate every one's generosity and love. Baby Todo Super Why Brown will be well taken care of. Thank you to everyone...you girls are the best ever!
